Discover Southeast Alaska's Premier Tours With True Alaskan Adventures

In the spring of 1970, the Allen family of Sitka, Alaska resurrected a sunken Stephen’s motor yacht and outfitted it for sightseeing tours. That summer, the Allen’s operated their first excursion on the vessel- a trip up Silver Bay in Sitka- and the family’s reputation for warm, friendly hospitality and unmatched local knowledge spread quickly. In the coming years and decades the Allen’s expanded their business, manufacturing their own vessels in the company shipyard. Today, Allen Marine Tours operates over 30 vessels across five ports of Southeast Alaska, providing award winning whale watching, sightseeing, and glacier tours.

In 2011, the family branched into the small ship cruise industry with the introduction of Alaskan Dream Cruises. Current offerings from the line include 8-,9-, and 11- day itineraries on five overnight vessels, ranging from 10 to 74 passengers. The all-inclusive cruises feature a unique mix of port excursions in the region’s towns and Native villages and adventures in raw wilderness bays and glacial fjords. This approach offers travelers a comprehensive look at all the Inside Passage has to offer- the True Alaska experience.

True Alaskan Tours was conceptualized as a means of introducing Alaskan Dream Cruises guests to a collection of Southeast Alaska’s premier tours. Opportunities include both Allen Marine Tours experiences, as well as unique adventures offered by other experienced and respected operators in the region. Every option has been vetted and hand-selected by the Allen family, drawing upon their local, insider knowledge. No bucket list item should be left unchecked on what might be your once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan adventure. True Alaskan Tours provides a one-stop-shop for seamless booking of Southeast Alaska’s signature collection of tours.

*If you are traveling to Alaska by large cruise ship, and the tour (or tours) you wish to experience are offered through your cruise line’s shore excursion program, we highly recommend making your arrangements through their reservations system. The cruise lines offer excellent service and value to their guests. They carefully vet the tour offerings, have stringent requirements on operation and safety protocols, stand behind all the products they sell, handle all the necessary ground transportation arrangements, and do all the work necessary to adjust your tour plans if the ship’s port date or timing has to change for any reason. As one of Alaska’s oldest tour operators, we welcome the opportunity to work with the cruise lines in service to their guests.
