After your transfer to the heliport from the pier, you will view a safety video, be outfitted with glacier boots and board the aircraft for your flight to spectacular Mendenhall Glacier and the dog camp. Along the way, enjoy informative narrative from the pilot and admire amazing views of lush rainforest, deep blue crevasses and glacier-carved peaks.

Soon you will land at Mendenhall Glacier’s one and only dog camp, where 240 Alaska Huskies will be excited to see you during your visit. A few of the dogs will be selected to pull you around in a sled while you take in the awe-inspiring scenery. You will have the option of helping the professional mushers drive the team or simply relaxing in the sled and witnessing the power of the dogs and the beauty of your surroundings.

You will have time to talk with the mushers, take pictures with the dogs and meet the camp’s adorable puppies before re-boarding your helicopter for the scenic return to the heliport. Here, warm yourself with a cup of hot coffee or tea and then enjoy the short motorcoach transfer to the pier.

Special Notes: Duration of the tour is approximate as transportation to heliport, flight routes and the time spent on the glacier may vary due to weather, road and glacier conditions.
